Full service pasture care as described on our website:Hay runs us $5.50 a bale with the average horse consuming a bale a day. Our pastures are fertilized and sprayed for weeds. Our pastures are fenced with the top of the line fencing at a cost in excess of $40,000. Our sheds are bedded with straw - ($3.00 a bale, and our stalls with shavings - ($6.00 a bag) and lined with oak kickboards to the height of 8'. On average it costs us between $250.00 - $270.00 a month to feed and bed a horse on full pasture care. |

*Daily stall rate April through October: |
$135.00 per month |
*Daily stall rate November through March:We spend a minimum of $70.00 a month in bedding and a minimum of 30 minutes a day cleaning, bedding, and setting up a stall with hay and water, and bringing in and turning your horse out of a stall. That works out to $3.00 a day for labor plus rent of a stall. We perform this service 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year in heat & humidity, snow, sleet, freezing rain, snow, ice and mud. Your horse is provided with heated buckets causing a dramatic jump in the electric bill. In the summer fans on the stalls also increase electric consumption, but not at the same rate as heated buckets, thus the lower summer stall rate. If we attempted to hire someone for this task, we would have to pay at least $8 - $10.00 an hour if we wanted to be assured of qualified help. |
